Sri Lankan Airlines, the national carrier for Sri Lanka, is an award-winning airline with a firm reputation as a global leader in service, comfort, safety, reliability, and punctuality. Launched in 1979, the airlines hubs are located at Bandaranaike International Airport in Colombo and Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport, Hambantota providing convenient connections to its global network (including codeshare partners) of 79 destinations in 37 countries around the world. The Sri Lankan fleet contains luxurious seats that have ample pitch and width. Seating is in a two-class system of Business and Economy. Business class seats on most long haul aircrafts are equipped with flatbeds. The AVOD in-flight entertainment system has the latest Audio / Video On Demand function with games etc. Also available is the air-show with forward and downward cameras; and video games in most seats. The Airline will replace its current fleet of A340s with six fuel efficient A330-300s and four latest generation A350-900 aircraft starting from this year. Operating with a new fleet will enable the airline to further upgrade the product which will in return, enhance the travel experience with Sri Lankan. Sri Lankan Airlines has been invited to join one world and is well on track to join the worlds leading airline alliance, on May 1st, this year. It will be the first airline in the sub-continent to join any of the global airline alliances, thus enabling the flagship carrier of Sri Lanka to offer its customers more services and benefits: such as a wider route network, opportunities to earn and redeem frequent flyer miles on any of the oneworld carriers. The Airline operates 14 frequencies from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Colombo, capital city of Sri Lanka (05 from Riyadh, 04 from Dammam and 05 from Jeddah) with seamless connections to Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, India, China and the Maldives.
